Львів, 2010. У дисертації досліджено чинники і особливості територіальної організації транспортної інфраструктури великих міст Західного регіону України, а також проблеми та перспективи її розвитку. Обґрунтовано науково-теоретичні та методичні основи суспільно-географічного дослідження транспортної інфраструктури великого міста. Проведена оригінальна класифікація головних елементів транспортної інфраструктури великих міст. Виділено дві групи чинників розвитку транспортної інфраструктури великих міст: природно-географічні та суспільно-географічні. Здійснено покомпонентну характеристику головних видів транспортної інфраструктури великих міст регіону. Виділені головні форми територіальної організації транспортної інфраструктури великих міст. Запропоновані перспективні напрямки розвитку та організаційно-технічні заходи щодо покращання стану транспортної інфраструктури великих міст Західного регіону України у найближчому майбутньому. The factors and peculiarities of the territorial organization of the transport infrastructure of big cities of the Western region of Ukraine are researched in the dissertation as well as problems and perspectives of its development. Scientific-theoretical and methodic basics of social-geographic research of transport infrastructure of the big city are grounded. The analysis of scientific works and approaches in geography of transport and its infrastructure is made. Original classification of main elements of transport infrastructure of big cities (on the material of regional centers of the west of Ukraine) is developed. Two groups of factors of the development of transport infrastructure of big cities are distinguished: natural-geographic and social-geographic. Natural-geographic include geologic and tectonic structure, relief, hydrography, climate, soils and flora, ecological condition of the territory of the cities; social-geographic embrace economic-geographic situation, type of economy, historic, demographic. Among modern factors automobilization, innovational and institutional ones are distinguished. With the help of mathematic-statistical method of multivariate analysis the typization of cities is made according to the indicators of the development of the main elements of their transport infrastructure. Componential characterization of the main kinds of transport infrastructure of the big cities of the region is made including street and road net, automobile, railway, electric an avia transport. Using the theory of graphs the measures of connection and reliability of the systems of electrical transport of western Ukrainian big cities are calculated. The main forms of territorial organization of transport infrastructure of big cities including spot, nodal, linear (transport highways) and areal objects. Perspective directions of the development and the measures of improvement of the state of transport infrastructure of big cities of the western region of Ukraine in the nearest future are suggested. Modern organization-technical measures of optimization of management and development of city transport infrastructure are characterized, including implementation of systems of logistics and geopositioning.
