ІНФОРМАЦІЙНО-ДОКУМЕНТАЦІЙНИЙ АСПЕКТ УКРАЇНОМОВНИХ ПЕРІОДИЧНИХ ВИДАНЬ США У КОНТЕКСТІ ДІЯЛЬНОСТІ УКРАЇНСЬКОЇ ЦЕРКВИ

Abstract

У статті розглядається питання діяльності національної церкви у діаспорі у контексті україномовного інформаційного простору США, зокрема, преси («Свобода», «Час і Події», «Українське слово», «Міст», «NOVA газета», «Вісті Комбатанта»). Крізь призму опублікованих документальних масивів доведено, що об’єднуючим та духовним центром українців у США стала церква, яка продукує певні духовні цінності. The article touches upon the representation of activities of national church in diaspora in mass media sphere of America, especially the press («Svoboda», «Chas i podii», «Ukrainske slovo», «Mist», «NOVA gazeta», «Visti Kombatanta»). The stress is laid on a big role of Ukrainian church in spiritual and cultural life of Ukrainian diaspora in the USA. Facts of strong influence of Ukrainian Orthodox Autocephalous Church and Greek Catholic Church on Ukrainian diaspora’s cultural life and the formation of their national identity are stated. Such an influence was possible due to consolidation of Ukrainian churches, patriarchate and clear relationship with believers (when people feel like a part of the church and their responsibility for one’s everyday life) as well as activities of different spiritual and secular organizations (Liga pravoslavnoi molodi, Emerytus klub, etc.). The analysis of periodicals shows that all of Ukrainian Churches of different confessions in the USA are firm that is why they are financially stable and have been increasing in the country. Published materials point out the great role of pastors in asserting and positive representation of Ukrainians abroad. Data sets also prove that church is the main spiritual and uniting center of Ukrainians in the United States. It creates national and cultural wealth abroad as well as values the Soviet power tried to destroy in continental Ukraine.
