Abstract

The Goal of the research – to analyze the formation and activity process of the Institutes of National Memory of Poland and Ukraine, their legal basicsand functional duties, characterize resource potentional, clarifythe role of these institutions in the process of country democratization, overcoming totalitarian past experience. Methodology of the research is based in the Principles of Historicism, Objectivity, Scholarship, Consistenyc as well as on the base of u general scientific and special historical methods usage. Scientific novelty. The important issue which is described in the article is the factor of political will of the state authority in the process of supporting and development of the Institutes of National Remembrance. Many years of cooperation between Polish and Ukrainian institutions are focused on. The process of citizens’ access to the archives resources and documents digitizing are compared. The role of both countries’ Institutes of National Remembrance in the soviet and Russian myths dispelling and historical truth declaring and its spreading in the information and public societies are pointed out. Conclusions. Authors have carried out the comparative analysis of the Institutes of National Remembrance of Poland and Ukraine, they have shown the role of these institutions in the process of the society democratizing as well as Ukrainian archive institutes implementation into European activity
